Tried to capture the beauty of the tulips Kari gave me. They were gorgeous! Of course, little Trudi seemed to get in the background of the picture. Ohhh, and the bright light glow from outside… How I love the changing from Winter to Spring!

like a lizard to a rock
Wow. So I finally experienced it first hand. What I’m talking about is the “lizard on a rock” syndrome that everyone experiences in the northwest. This winter has actually been quite mild. But, because it’s my first winter since I moved from NorCacky — but really NorCal — it’s been a trip to experience this climate first hand. I thought I was doing okay with my daily Vitamin D intake. I thought I was feeling fine and not too bothered by the GREY DAYS the northwest blankets on me. I knew that I was depressed for parts of November & December, but then I got a job and I thought I was smiling big and ontop of the world – again. I never realized the true effect that the lack of ***sunshine*** really had on my mood until last weekend. The weather has been truly mucky-muck since before the new year. Then, the northwest was graced with this flukey 60 degree weather for a solid week. Yay! I decided that it would be good for my spirit and soul to be outside. I decided to go out and catch as many rays as possible before they disappeared again. Saturday and Sunday we did just that. I took these photos on Sunday afternoon at Laurelhurst Park.
At first, it was just me & Kari and a few families here and there enjoying a nice stroll through the park. We decided to sit for a while on the grass. As I nestled my sweatshirt under my bum I began to look around. I noticed that people were coming out of the woodwork like pod people just to sit in the park and sun bath. The “Lizard on a rock” syndrome that I’m talking about. What a trip!
As I write this, I am sitting on my couch late at night listening to the sounds of the rain drip drip dripping again. In less than 24 hours, the sunshine has gone back to hide-n-go-seek and the rain clouds have blanketed this wonderful City of Roses once again.
I’ve gotta say that I’m thankful that it’s been a mild winter. I’m hoping that by next winter I’ll be a millionaire so I can jump the next flight to South America on my private jet —whenever I want to in order to soak up the blazing sunshine on my cheeks instead of being part of a torture experiment by the “drip-drip-drip.”
moss
Folks really don’t believe us when we tell them that moss grows everywhere in the pacific northwest. I recall quite clearly last summer – even in the 100 degree heat wave we had that I spotted a ton of moss still living in our yard.
This brings me to yesterday’s new. I had been feeling quite fed up with the grey, rainy days and was thrilled to see what a brilliant day it had turned out to be. I hastily threw on my pumas and went for a quick jont in my hood to soak up some natural Vit D. Of course, I grabbed my point and shoot Canon in case there was something new or different that I had to shoot. I came across my next door neighbor’s roses in his front yard and realized that yes,… moss grows on rose bushes as well. Check this out.
the susans
Right about now I am really beginning to need some serious sunshine to warm up my face and bones. I’ve been told that winter is truly just beginning here in the pacific northwest and that the weather won’t warm up until July. Yikes! I’m really looking forward to our getaway weekend for Valentine’s. I just hope there is sunshine where we are heading to.
buckets of rain
Neko Case – Buckets of Rain
written by Bob Dylan
Buckets of rain
Buckets of tears
Got all them buckets comin’ out of my ears.
Buckets of moonbeams in my hand,
I got all the love, honey baby,
You can stand.
I been meek
And hard like an oak
I seen pretty people disappear like smoke.
Friends will arrive, friends will disappear,
If you want me, honey baby,
I’ll be here.
Like your smile
And your fingertips
Like the way that you move your lips.
I like the cool way you look at me,
Everything about you is bringing me
Misery.
Little red wagon
Little red bike
I ain’t no monkey but I know what I like.
I like the way you love me strong and slow,
I’m takin’ you with me, honey baby,
When I go.
Life is sad
Life is a bust
All ya can do is do what you must.
You do what you must do and ya do it well,
I’ll do it for you, honey baby,
Can’t you tell?
mt. hood
yep…..
…still totally obsessed with Mt. Hood. I can’t wait to take a road trip up to see the mtn up close. We’re making plans with our friends to go snowboarding or tubing or sledding. Yah, I think tubing or sledding is more my thing. I’ve signed up to take ski lessons in years past at Heavenly, and was dumb enough to try the bunny slope before I actually took the lesson. That didn’t work out so great. I ended up making speed -up to what felt like 100mph on skis that I didn’t know how to control other than “pizza” now “french fries”…..
Yep. I bailed out, passed out, and was taken down the mountainside by the mtn patrol. A few months later, I made another trip to Heavenly (now that I think about it, I think I was cursed on that mountain) and took snowboarding lessons. Yah, I ended up being the adult student in the class that the bitchy blonde haired, blue eyed, snow bunny Tahoe queen picked on for the entire hour. “No, Trina. A falling leaf. Watch the others. Look. They’re doing the falling leaf down the hill on their boards. Now you try!” I thought it was quite entertaining since the moment I rocked myself upright onto the board and proceeded to barrel straight down the hill and practically taking out every person in my line of path.
I do have to say that the Heavenly ski lodge makes delicious hot tottie drinks.
