Today marks my two hundred and eighty first post on my blog! I thought it would be appropriate to post a lovely photo of these flowers I spotted at work today. The Sun has finally decided to make an appearance. A day late and a dollar short, but I’ll take it!

I think she actually came to Life once she put the Gold t-shirt on and borrowed Naomi’s faerie wings.

Yep! I think she did!

Went to the “Dyke March Portland 2010″ last night. Traditionally, the purpose of a Dyke March is to increase lesbian visibility and activism and they have grown to be more inclusive of all women-loving-women regardless of labels as well as bisexuals, intersex and transgender persons. Last night’s march was a pretty good turn out of a few hundred womyn of all shapes, colors, ages, and styles. I brought the camera with me and click click clicked through the entire march. I thought these two photos captured a snippet of the event.

The only thing I’ll do different next year is perhaps dress up for the event. I was in traditional jeans, white t-shirt and pumas. I know, a bit boring. I didn’t quite make the cut for what most of the Portland dyke’s were wearing. I’ve got a year to work on my new Portland-dyke-image. We shall see…..

I’m not quite sure what to make of this van. The Never Never Van. I spotted it at the Freddie Meyer parking lot on Hawthorne. Man, I love that Fred Meyer! It sucks me in and spits me out with a few bags of stuff. Anyways, back to the van. It was kinda cool to look at; all the faces and images along the walls of the van. The brassy tinted paint. However, until the day that I see the owner of this van, my mind will continue to think that this person is very creepy and I’d never want to step foot inside this van. So for now, I’ll just take a photo of it; from afar…. very far away.

We went to Sushi on Wednesday night. Yumm! I love sushi! I had the spicy tuna roll and we split veggie tempura. Of course we couldn’t stop at dinner; we had to order dessert. Flourless chocolate cake with drizzled sauce. Oh wow! I’m gonna *pop*! As I sat at the table taking in the lovely decor and hip-sushi-house-atmosphere I thought to myself, “I wonder if I’ll find a map in this place for Friday’s weekly photo challenge.” Thanks, Dora! I knew you’d pull through! A Sake map, too!
Enjoy!

This is my yard. The yard is covered with tiny mushrooms that have multiplied all over the grass. It’s kinda creepy to look at and at the same time it’s hard not to want to study them. I have no idea how to get rid of them. I don’t think they’re edible. That side of the house is the west side and should get sunkissed when the sun should actually decide to show his face this summer. Perhaps that is the only way to kill them off is with the warmth of the sun. On second thought, if my neighbors upstairs continue to play corn-hole every single week day and weekend night until the wee hours, then of course the mushrooms will get squashed!

This is my way of embracing the rain… the down pouring rain we’ve had this June in Portland. It really friggen sucks. Last weekend was the most brilliantly, warm weathered weekend since perhaps last September. Everyone was cheering, upbeat, and smiling big. I’m actually a bit sunkissed; until this week. The rain decided it wasn’t done. It really means business. So, back to my point of this post. I’m trying to embrace the rain and everything it offers. I think I’ve become a human “rain catcher”.
Enjoy.

Jonsi – “Around Us”
I see the walls and see them fall
You break through them all
I see you crawl, now you stand tall
Grow and grow till tall
In storm we scream against the stream, our eyes watering
Jump into lakes, the surface breaks
We swim underwater, and our mouths – In tune
We all want to grow with the seeds we will sow
We all want to go with the trees we will grow
We all want to know when we’re all meant to go
To a place you and I – Will call home
I see forest, a treasure chest full of labyrinth
I see a door, holes in the floor
We’ll breed seeds – We grow
There’s songs, songs you bring to us
You pin both the wings on us
I hear it, I see you sing for us
You go tie a string around us
There’s songs, songs you bring to us
You pin both the wings on us
I hear it, I see you sing for us
You go tie a string around us
We all want to grow with the seeds we will sow
We all want to go with the trees we will grow
We all want to know when we’re all meant to go
To a place you and I…
We all want to grow with the seeds we will sow
We all want to know when the trees will grow
We all want to know when we’re all meant to go
To a place you and I…

Went to watch the Dragon Boat Races yesterday. We were supporting our friends’ team from Planned Parenthood “The Love Boat”. The day couldn’t have gotten any better. I think Summer is finally here and hopefully to stay. It go up to 80 degrees; not a cloud in the sky and a perfect blue. The west side waterfront was packed with people from the Saturday Market to the Rose Festival and the Dragon Boat Races. I think Oregonians were definitely ready for packing in that sunshine.

The Dragon Boat Races were way fun. I love to watch all that adrenaline pumping competition. There will be more races today, but I have to work. Waaaah!

Go Love Boat!

Went to the Jade Lounge last night for some “Cocktail Friday” sippin. Wow! they put a helluva lot of fresh grated ginger in that simple syrup! As the weekly anxieties of work dissolved into my tall glass of the “stumptown girl”, I started tappin my feet to the live solo artist performing at the front of the lounge. Jason Lyle is his name. He sounds a bit like a male version of Mazzy Star; dreamy, drunk, and reminiscent of days past. Disappointingly so, his gig only lasted for an hour. As he passed us on his way out the front door, guitar case strapped on his back and all – I kindly told him how much I enjoyed his music. It was cool to see that he was actually quite humbled and appreciative of me giving him praise. He even struck his hand to his chest and said, “Wow, thank you!”

Ahh, it’s the little things in life I tell ya. Next stop!… DRAGON BOAT RACES!

Since I wouldn’t really call myself a scholar, nor a book worm or even an avid reader, I thought that using the the Bartender’s Bible along with a Salsa making book as my models was a good go at it for my weekly photo challenge.
Happy Friggen Friday! Woooo-friggen-hoooooo!
