Yesterday, we went to the Tulip Farm in Woodburn, Ore. At first I wasn’t too excited about it until Kari reminded me to bring the camera. Twist Twist. What we found out as we pulled up to an almost empty parking lot was that we came in through the back exit and didn’t have to pay the $10admission fee. Shhhhh…don’t tell anyone.
We walked along only a few acres of the 40acre farm. At first glance, I thought I would walk up and down every aisle to see the various tulips. But, I quickly became overwhelmed after only walking a few steps and clicking about 200photos. Take a look…
…and daffodils too!
These 9 photos are only a sampling of the 300plus photos I clicked. The tulips farm makes me smile. I can already tell you that this week’s daily photos are going to be chalk full of more pics I took at the farm.
I don’t hear any complaining now- do I?

I love the staff’s humor at Powell’s Book in Portland.
The other day, we were looking for college basketball books because we were having an argument about Duke’s mascot and U-NC’s mascot. I said Duke is the Blue Devils and UNC is the TarHeels. Kari didn’t believe me. She was goin’ for the Deacons. My outside voice said to her, “Ehhhhhh, wrong! Try again!” So we stumbled into Powell’s Books to settle the argument. Haha.. I won!
In the meantime, I saw this sign about Tiger Woods being a cheater but not with his golf game. Ha! Powell’s Books has tons of these funny promotional signs throughout the store. LOVE it!

….as I stood there trying to capture the perfect photo of these gorgeous blossoms a woman passed me on the sidewalk. I was so tired and delirious after a night of no sleep since the break in.. I turned to the woman and said, “aren’t they beautiful. They’re so soft you want to sleep with them…”
She stared at me.
Deer. In. The. Headlights.
…and kept walking.

Every year around this time, Kari and I somehow create our own pub crawl. Little did we know when we stepped out of the house and onto the Tri-Met Bus #4 that yesterday was the 2010 pub crawl day.

..And we ate and crawled, and drank and crawled, and crawled some more. Oh, and I discovered the juke box at North Bar. The juke box is full of awesome music from all over the Northwest, NYC, and even some down home bluegrass.

I have to say that the true highlight of the day was Kari’s rake. In the middle of our day, she decided that we needed to check out a True Value store on SE Hawthorne to see what we might need. We ended up buying a 24′” rake. I wanted to cut our day short and bring the rake home, but Kari insisted that we take it with us onthe crawl. Little did I know that the rake would actually become a great talking piece at each stop we made. Who knew?

My photography has not been close to spectacular lately. I apologize for that. I’ve been quite busy at the place where I work and by the time the weekend comes around – I’m feelin’ a bit tired. I guess you can say that the camera has been a good art therapy outlet for me. It’s a way for me to express myself.
Oh — how I love Spring time! All the cherry blossoms, daffodils and tulips are blooming. I had to capture this photo of my favorite part of spring time blossoms which is when they dust the ground kind of like snow. Enjoy!

I dedicate this photo to Margo. This is the Portland Hostel on SE Hawthorne. I’ve never stayed there, but it seems to be a popular place for visitors to stay. Check out the green roof!

I am beside myself excited about my first photography exhibit at the Gigibar in April. I went over to Gigibar yesterday to meet with Gigi. She was quite helpful to go over all the details I need to know in order to prepare (i.e. supplies I need to install my work, what the dimensions are on the wall spaces, how to sell my photography, how to promote my work via postcards or business cards, and perhaps having an art opening at the space).
In the meantime, I have started to plan out what 10 photographs I will display in the Espresso / Wine Bar. In order to give myself a kick start, I asked my friends on facebook to vote on 1 of their favorite photos I have listed on this blog under the tab “favorites”. So far, the majority vote is for this photo called, “Reflections”. Thanks, pals! There is still time to vote. So if you want to take a minute to look at the photos – click on”Favorites” and please leave a comment with your vote. Thank you in advance.
I must thank Gigi in advance for giving me this opportunity to display my photography. Thank you, Gigi!!!! May your espresso wine bar always be prosperous!

So my sister Angie was so totally right. Way back in November I was talking shit about how I love love love Portland. And, oh yes,… I DO totally love Portland. This is my permanent home. Angie quickly responded, “You just wait until the middle of Winter!!!!! It’s totally gonna KICK. YOUR. ASSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.” She said this almost like the wicked witch of the west. I had NO CLUE what she meant by this and my touche to her was, “Oh, come on! You’re just jealous, cuz Portland is so much better than Seattle!?!!!!!”

Fast fwd to this week. Okay, sister. YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! Cuz girrrrrrrl, this grey grey grey is totally kicking my ASSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! I’ve been finally experiencing the mid-winter syndrome of wanting to scream at the top of my lungs …

“I’m sick of the friggen grey days and am totally ready for some consistant warm, sunny, happy happy days!”

I apologize for the bitchy kitty REOW REOWWWWWwwwwww lately. Yep, Angie was so right.

What a great night we had last night with friends at the Doug Fir. Shoeshine Blue set the mood to “chill-zone”. They are super mellow, folk, Bob Dylan type band. I really like them! The other band, Peter Bernhard jammed out to some up-beat Paul Simon type tunes. Rad rad rad!

Doug Fir, I think I luuuuuuuuuv you.
