I am a proud new resident of Portland, Oregon a.k.a. ‘the new black’, living happily with my life-partner and of course our 2 cats. I am new to photography – totally self-taught. I do plan to take a few classes in the near future. I just haven’t gotten around to it since I’m sucked into the blog world. Oh, and I’m also new to the blog world (as of Sept 30, 2009) and so far loving it as well.
So this is how it happened…since I purchased my first digital camera in the summer of 2008, I have fallen in love with the creative outlet of capturing the world through one lens via my eyes. I find myself on a daily basis stopping in my tracks to capture an awesome landscape, something humorous about everyday life, or just what I think could be a great photo. I also have a massive obsession with clouds, light(ing), and Mt. Hood. Note to group: you must take your camera with you every day. That is the only way to practice the art of clicking. It also gives you dozens of opportunities to capture moments on your camera that you’d be missing without it. Like this photo I caught of a light turning from wait to walk.

Welcome to Portland and the blogging world of WordPress. Your photos are great and your comment about always carrying your camera hit home with me. My spouse always carries her camera with her. Photography used to be her passion until she met a pool table! She hasn’t taken a pic since I don’t know when! I take that back, she tooks lots of shots when we went to Lincoln City in October to watch the best female pool player in the world compete.

And, I do love Portland! I have zero complaints and plan to lay down some roots! I love my newly found creative outlet of photography! So much, that I inspired my partner to pick up one of her own hobbies she’s always wanted to do – guitar. For Christmas she got her first guitar and loves it!
