kari
So this weekend I got to take the office camera home in order to test it out. Ooooooooh la la! It’s a Canon EOS 40D and it knocks the socks off of my ol’ point and shoot Canon powershot! Wowza!!! Kari and I went for a nice hike through the forest which turned out to be a lot of “stop and go and click and go and stop and click and stop and go and click click click”.
I’ve got to say that it’s going to be really tough to bring the camera back to the office on Monday.

tram
Ride the tram. The Portland Aerial Tram has been operating for the public since January 2007. It is one of Portland’s best forms of public transportation. It has a 99.8% success rate. And, in the past 3 years – it has only had to stop for a cummulative total of 3hrs. The Portland aerial tram is the safest public transportation option – especially during inclimate weather like during a snowstorm. It takes less than 5 minutes to get from the top or rather OHSU’s Marquam Hill campus to the bottom – the South Waterfront district. If your kids have been wanting to jump on the next plane for Disneyland but your pocket book isn’t allowing you to make the trip, then I’d recommend that you make a trip to the Portland Aerial Tram with the kids. It’s only $4bucks round-trip. The best part is that when the tram rides over the middle tower you get a fun little swing out of it.
Oh, and I really think that the best part about the aerial tram ride is that when you get to the top at OHSU’s Peter Kohler Pavilion – the overlook onto Portland’s horizon is spectacular. You can see an incredible panoramic view of Portland looking out to the Willamette River, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, downtown Portland to your left, and views across the river of the entire “east-side” of Portland. Fabulous.
Ride the Tram.
moss
Folks really don’t believe us when we tell them that moss grows everywhere in the pacific northwest. I recall quite clearly last summer – even in the 100 degree heat wave we had that I spotted a ton of moss still living in our yard.
This brings me to yesterday’s new. I had been feeling quite fed up with the grey, rainy days and was thrilled to see what a brilliant day it had turned out to be. I hastily threw on my pumas and went for a quick jont in my hood to soak up some natural Vit D. Of course, I grabbed my point and shoot Canon in case there was something new or different that I had to shoot. I came across my next door neighbor’s roses in his front yard and realized that yes,… moss grows on rose bushes as well. Check this out.
the susans
Right about now I am really beginning to need some serious sunshine to warm up my face and bones. I’ve been told that winter is truly just beginning here in the pacific northwest and that the weather won’t warm up until July. Yikes! I’m really looking forward to our getaway weekend for Valentine’s. I just hope there is sunshine where we are heading to.
exhale…
This weekend, I got to spend some qt-time with my sisters here in Portland. We stayed at the Ace Hotel, drank beers at the Clyde Commons, ate sushi at Masu Sushi, and walked across the Burnside Bridge to watch Liv Warfield “The Queen of Soul” sing her heart out at the Doug Fir. This morning, we had arranged to get our Tarot Cards read by “Tarot Chick – Renee”. I gotta tell you – she is damn good and hits it all right on the nail. I ended the morning sipping on a delicious espresso drink at the Stumptown Coffee next door to the Ace Hotel. Yummers!
If you’ve never been to Portland, then put it on your Bucket List!
yurt
Last October, Kari and I went yurt camping along the Oregon Coast with my sister and her family. It was my first time I had ever been inside a yurt and I was pleasantly surprised. I had always imagined them to be less stable structures, but I was wrong. They are quite sturdy; they have hardwood floors, electricity, and this one came fully furnished with a futon/couch and a bunk bed. Oh, and it also has a skylight.
This summer, Kari and I are organizing a big camping trip with friends from all over. If you’ve never been in a yurt and you’ve always been curious as to what it’s like sleeping in one – I’d highly recommend that you try it out. I know they are all over Oregon Parks, but I’m not sure where else they might be throughout the country.
